B i o g r a p h y

Born in Klaipeda, Lithuania, Irma Vastakaite is a young violinist who is passionate for chamber music.
 
She has started playing violin at the age of 9 and after moving to the capital of Lithuania, she attended National M.K.Ciurlionis School of Art. There she studied with professors Jonas Urba and Arturas Silale as well as attended various masterclasses including with Pavel Berman in Klaipeda, professor Petru Munteanu in Druskininkai, Lithuania and at Kloster Schöntal, Germany.
 
While enjoying solo playing, Irma has also played in different chamber groups and orchestras, and had concert tours in Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Netherlands and Austria.
 
In 2010 after being allocated a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, Irma started her undergraduate degree with professor Eric Gruenberg.  She has participated in master classes with Thomas Brandis, a chamber master class with Turner Ensemble member Frances Angel, and also had a chance to play in the International Alexander Technique conference.
 
Recent highliths include performances with a newly formed violin and piano duo - Duo Vastedt with pianist Greta Astedt as well as performances in the Orpheus Orchestra, Milton Keynes City Orchestra, ‘Oxford May Music‘ festival‘s All-Star Orchestra, Eroica Ensemble and uncoducted Aldwych Ensemble.
 
Currently, Irma is studying with Royal Academy of Music‘s professor Jack Liebeck.
